Like many things I've made over the years, this one was a solution to a problem. I wanted a more accurate way to control the length of cuts on my miter saw. I also wanted to be able to cut very small amounts off of existing pieces to really fine tune the fit of said piece. Having used mic heads and linear bearings many times in the past, I dreamt up this idea. I fired up my CAD software and went to work. After a few hours this is what I came up with.
